Which photo to choose
Wedding photos are usually the first idea, and often not the best one for paint by numbers. A white dress takes many of the numbers for its folds and lace, while the two faces, small in a wide shot, get only a few. A close shot of the two of you, faces filling half the frame, gives a painting where you both look like yourselves.
For an anniversary, the photo from the first trip together or the first apartment can mean more than the official portrait. Try several here: the preview shows each result in a few seconds.
Getting both faces right
Both faces need to be sharp and at about the same distance from the camera. In a selfie, the face nearest the phone comes out larger and sharper, and the other one loses detail.
Daylight from the side or from a window works better than a flash. A flash flattens the faces and the generator merges cheeks, nose and forehead into one area.
Different skin tones in the same photo need more colors to stay distinct: choose 36, or 48 for a large canvas.
Wedding dress, suit and background
White and black clothes are where most of the small areas end up. If the faces matter more than the dress, crop the photo at the shoulders. A busy background (guests, a crowd, a street) also uses numbers; a plain wall or the sky leaves more of them for you two.
