Easter decoration has a short life. Pastel bunting goes up in March and into a box in April. The reason we push paint instead is that a spring canvas has no date on it: rabbits, chicks and blossom stay on the wall until the light changes in October.
Four kits that read as Easter without saying so
These are the ones in the catalogue that fit the holiday. It is a short list on purpose, because most of what gets sold as Easter art is a pastel egg pattern and we do not stock those.
- White Rabbit. The obvious one, and the hardest of the four to paint well. White fur is not white: the kit gives you five near neutrals and the whole canvas depends on putting them in the right regions. Take the 48 color version.
- Chicks of the Hen. Yellow on brown, large blocks, warm. The one to give a child on the Saturday before.
- Little Girl and Rabbit. A scene rather than an animal study. It carries a room better than the other three because there is something happening in it.
- Bunny in a Flower Meadow. Softest palette of the four, and it stays plausible on a nursery wall all year.
The spring half of the decision
If the room needs lifting rather than decorating for a specific Sunday, skip the rabbits. Floral and Botanical holds the canvases that do the same job for longer. Elysian Daisy Field is the brightest. Peony Grace is the one that suits a formal room. Wildflower Meadow has the most colors in it and takes the longest.
Painting it over the weekend
A 16x20 inch canvas at 24 colors is roughly eight hours of work. Spread over Good Friday to Easter Monday that is comfortable, and it is the reason the format works for a long weekend where nobody has made plans. Two people on one canvas is faster than two canvases, and it avoids the situation where one person finishes on Saturday and the other is still going on Monday night. How we split a canvas between people covers the mechanics of that.
Order dates
One to three business days to process, seven to fifteen to deliver. Ordering in the last week of March is cutting it fine for an early Easter. Free shipping to the US, Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia and New Zealand, no minimum.
For a personal version, the custom kit page takes a photograph, ours or yours, and returns it as a numbered canvas. Last year's egg hunt in the garden works better than it sounds, provided the children are close enough to the camera to fill the frame.
For an Easter table, the Brown Rabbit in the Daisy Meadow, the Robin on a Spring Branch and the Tulip Rows Leading to a Windmill all work.
